Customer Custom Fields

Customer metafields let you capture and display extra information about your customers that goes beyond Shopify’s default fields. Reselly integrates with Shopify’s customer metafields so that the information you create in Shopify can also appear in your Reselly contracts.

Creating Customer Metafields in Shopify

  1. Navigate to Customer Metafields

    • Go to your Shopify Admin > Settings > Custom Data (Metafields and Metaobjects).

    • Select Customer.

  2. Add a New Definition

    • Click Add Definition.

  3. Enter Metafield Information

    • Fill in the name of the metafield.

    • (Optional) Add a description to explain what the field is for.

  4. Select a Data Type

    • Choose the type of data this metafield will store (e.g., text, number, date, file).

    • Save your changes.

  5. Note the Metafield Key

    • Shopify automatically generates a key for the metafield (e.g., custom.name).

    • Keep this key for later use in Reselly.

  6. Fill in Customer Data

    • Go to a customer profile in Shopify.

    • Enter values into the new metafield(s) you created.

Connecting Customer Metafields to Reselly

  1. Go to Reselly Settings

    • Navigate to Settings > Contracts > Customizations.

    • Find the Customer Metafields section.

  2. Add Metafield Keys

    • Enter the key(s) of your custom metafields (e.g., custom.name).

    • Separate multiple keys with a comma.

  3. Use in Contracts

    • When creating a contract and selecting a customer, the customer metafields you configured will appear in the customer section of the contract.
